The Miracle Tree Foundation

The Miracle Tree Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit in the state of California devoted to providing financial and advocacy support for doctors, scientists, researchers and NGOs to study and develop new diagnoses of and treatments for rare diseases, including genetic syndromes, immune system problems and metabolic and neuromuscular disorders.

The foundation is the brain child of actor/author/activist Austin Highsmith, co-star of the award winning Dolphin Tale film series from Warner Brothers and Alcon Entertainment. Through her work on the movies, Austin became an ambassador for the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, home to the world famous dolphin Winter and her prosthetic tail, whose story has inspired millions to persevere through life’s toughest obstacles. Meeting countless "kid warriors" navigating chronic and sometimes terminal health care issues, whose lives were impacted by Dolphin Tale, motivated Austin to share her own story of survival following a rare life-threatening childhood illness. Austin's experiences formed the basis for the children's book "The Miracle Tree" released in April 2019 by Doce Blant Publishing. Proceeds from the book will be donated to the foundation.
